Since it’s inception in 2012, Yakka Contracting has developed rapidly into a complete Demolition, Civil and Transport company. The key personel are Managing Director Bruce Levien, Operations Manager Chris Doyle, Contracts Manager Andy O’Donnell and Health & Safety Manager Greg Bailey – each are experts in their fields.

BRUCE LEVIEN (Bcon)

Bruce has contract administration experience on a wide range of projects, both in construction and demolition over the past 25 years. His capabilities include administration of NZ standard forms of contract, as well as FIDIC gained during extensive overseas experience. Bruce also has construction project management experience with Multiplex Construction, an international construction & development powerhouse. This wealth of knowledge has combined to serve Bruce well over the past 6 years as the sole director of the Yakka Group. The group now includes Yakka Civil and Yakka Transport divisions, and has a staff level of 85 permanent employees and turnover in excess of 20 million.

Chris has been in the demolition industry based in the United Kingdom for nearly 30 years.

In that time he has managed projects with budgets up to £35m and has held various senior positions with Colemans, Cantillon and Downwell demolition.

Chris’s roles in the United Kingdom included employment as a senior project manager where he oversaw high profile projects such as the demolition of Didcot Power Station Stage 1, Aston Villa Football Club, Jaguar Cars, Rolls Royce, Nestle, Premier Food Group and Aston University. Chris brings a raft of experience to our company and is currently the only MDIE in New Zealand.

ANDY O’DONNELL

Andy has developed a broad skill set in the demolition trade, he has worked at all levels commencing his career as a demolition labourer, continuing to progress into becoming a highly skilled excavator operator, then in later years entering into the management side of the industry. Andy has excellent rapport with all Yakka Demolition supervisors. These supervisors also come with a with a number of years of project and site management experience with both demolition and head contractors. This team led by Andy, with his hands-on ‘can do’ and grass roots management experience have the necessary skills to manage demolition projects of any size or complexity.

GREG BAILEY

Health and Safety Manager

Greg comes from a construction background, having qualified as a carpenter in 1989, moving through a diverse construction career before elevating to a site manager role for Construction Company Haydn and Rollett. Greg has since developed his skills into the Health and Safety side of the industry and is currently working with Worksafe New Zealand on new guidelines for precast concrete.Gregs Health & Safety technical skills include:
